SCOUTS SERVE TOWN ON JULY 4TH WEEKEND, 2012

Scouts marched in the parade, prepared and served food at the Scout Cafe, and cleaned up after the fireworks crowd the morning after.

No float in the parade this year, but our natty contingent of scouts looked splendid walking the route before joining the rest of the troop at the Cafe.  Mark Elliott captained the Cafe this year, and our seasoned scouts and scouters—as well as several of their friends—staffed the grills and the serving line.  Everyone helped clean up and return the gear to the scout house, and several customers commented on how smoothly and well-organized our operation went.

Removing the trash left by the fireworks spectators fell largely to one hardy family: Ben P was joined by his mom and dad, Lisa and Bernard, who together removed 90% of the detritus before Ben L and Michael arrived to finish the job.
